Haileybury hosts dinghy racing event

The British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Thames Valley Championships went off well on Saturday 30th April.

The afternoon’s sailing was held in beautiful sunshine but unfortunately the failing wind conditions resulted in the racing being suspended before the completion of the event.

The first round was sailed competitively, with Sevenoaks establishing themselves as clear leaders. The second place battle was between Aldenham and Haileybury. Haileybury, despite being beaten in their match against Aldenham, won the group stage.

At the end of round one the teams were reorganised into Gold and Silver fleets for further racing. Only four out of the six races were completed before the wind finally departed, which left the final positions to be decided on points. The atmosphere throughout the event was excellent and all pupils competed in a good spirit.

The final results were:
1st Sevenoaks (Overall Winner)
2nd Aldenham (Thames Valley Winner)
3rd Haileybury
4th Eton
5th Wellington (Plate Winner)
6th Merchant Taylors
7th Brentwood
8th City of London
