Pastoral Care

At Haileybury, we believe that nurturing the whole child is essential for their growth and success. Our pastoral care system is designed to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued, understood, and empowered to thrive.

The Lower School environment is built upon four core values:

  • Ambition
  • Courage
  • Respect
  • Integrity

These values are not merely words on a wall; they are guiding principles that influence the actions of everyone in our community, benefiting both individuals and the group as a whole.

While academic excellence is paramount, we recognise that growth outside the classroom is equally important.

Our pastoral care system supports pupils as they:

  • Explore wide-ranging co-curricular activities
  • Develop new interests and passions
  • Create fond memories and strong friendships

Through our comprehensive pastoral care approach, we aim to ensure that every pupil transitions from LS2 to Removes with a solid foundation, not just in academics, but in personal development and social skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Round-the-clock Support

The Lower School is situated next to our Health & Wellbeing centre. Open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, the Health and Wellbeing Centre has nursing and counselling professionals who work closely with our GP team.

Healthy Eating

Lower School pupils enjoy all their meals in the beautiful Dining Hall, where a selection of main dishes, salads, soups and desserts is available daily. All Haileybury pupils, including boarders, dine together in this spacious and sociable setting, making it a perfect spot to connect with friends.

Parents are very much part of our community and the partnership between home and school is vital to ensuring the best outcomes for every pupil. There are many events which are run for parents and these vary from formal parent events to more informal ones such as coffee mornings to catch up with members of the Lower School team.

Parents are of course welcome to cheer on their children at sports fixtures, as well as enjoy many music concerts, plays, lectures and Chapel services.
