Co-Curricular
Unleashing Potential: Discover Haileybury’s Vibrant Co-Curricular Program
At Haileybury, we believe in developing the whole pupil through a diverse and engaging co-curricular program and so we encourage our Lower School pupils to embrace the myriad of activities available.
Central to our co-curricular offering is exploration beyond the academic curriculum – whether on the sports field, in the studio, in debate or elsewhere.
We want our Lower School pupils to be excited by the co-curricular activities and to find and develop their interests and passions. The opportunities for new experiences, emotional rewards, and character development are practically limitless.
Drama, Music, and Sport
Drama, music, and sport form an important part of our co-curriculum, providing individual and collective opportunities for expression, knowledge development, and personal growth.
Drama
The Lower School puts on a spectacular annual drama production, giving all pupils the chance to participate. Lower School pupils are also able to take part in some of the full-school productions. Throughout the year, LAMDA lessons and showcases offer additional platforms for pupils to shine and demonstrate their talents in the performing arts.
Music
Music lessons, choirs, and music showcases throughout the year allow pupils to explore their musical interests and abilities.
Lower School pupils are encouraged to learn a musical instrument, with music teachers available to help select the right one and offer lessons if desired.
Sports
Sports on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, as well as Saturday mornings, provide exciting opportunities for competitive engagement and team building.
In Lower School, pupils have access to a wide variety of sports. Girls have the opportunity to try lacrosse, netball, swimming, hockey, athletics, cricket, racket sports, football and dance. Boys can explore rugby, football, basketball, swimming, cricket, hockey, athletics, and racket sports. The aim is to expose pupils to a range of sports so that they can enjoy new experiences and discover their passions.
Our ethos of sports-for-all means that all pupils, at all levels, have the opportunity to take part in sports fixtures and represent their school. Matches are mostly held mid-week and during Saturday sports.
With the support of our staff experts, all Lower School pupils have access to our Athletic Development Centre (ADC), a dedicated strength and conditioning facility. The School also runs a Lower School Performance Programme for the most able and committed athletes to realise their full potential.
Clubs and Societies
Haileybury offers an impressive array of over 130 clubs and societies, offering a wide range of opportunities to inspire pupils to explore and cultivate their interests.
Popular options for Lower School pupils include Art Club, MUN Debating Society, Drama Society, Eco Group, Vex Robotics, Adventure Skills and various sports.
The school actively supports pupils in pursuing their passions, even assisting them in establishing new clubs if their interests are not already represented.
Developing Essential Skills
Our comprehensive co-curricular program is designed to help every pupil discover and nurture their unique talents, build confidence, and develop essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.
At Haileybury, we believe that these diverse co-curricular experiences are integral to shaping well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
