Welcome to Highfield: A Vibrant Community for Young Boarders

Highfield isn’t just a boarding house; it’s a thriving community where lifelong friendships are forged.

Highfield offers a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for Lower School boarders. It is a vibrant and enjoyable community that feels like a home away from home. Boarders quickly adapt to the routines and delight in the numerous fun activities and quality time shared with their friends.

At Highfield, we are committed to providing a vibrant and enriching boarding experience that extends well beyond the traditional concept of boarding accommodation. Our pupils enjoy a rich tapestry of weekly activities, from creative arts and crafts to culinary adventures and sports, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

Our two well-equipped common rooms offer comfortable sofas, games tables and consoles for relaxed social interaction. Our spacious bedrooms are carefully crafted to strike the perfect balance between building new friendships and providing personal space. To add to the home-like atmosphere, each of the two wings features fully equipped kitchens where pupils can prepare snacks, learn basic cooking skills, and enjoy moments of independence – all under the supportive guidance of our resident staff. All main meals are enjoyed by boarders in the Dining Hall, where there is plenty of choice on offer.

Haileybury has a stunning and expansive campus nestled amongst woodland. Pupils can take part in a number of outdoor activities organised throughout the estate, such as Adventure Skills and Camp Outs. Just outside Highfield, Lower School pupils can enjoy their own green outdoor space, including a play area, table-tennis tables and a covered astroturf.

At Highfield, every evening is a House Night filled with fun and excitement. Our boarders enjoy activities, such as board games, outdoor sports, movie night, baking, playing pool, and team games before bedtime. Highfield buzzes with energy, offering a lively and enjoyable atmosphere where boarders strengthen friendships and create lasting experiences.

At Highfield, our dedicated resident staff team forms the heart of our nurturing pastoral team. Led by Mrs Davey, our Houseparent, the team includes Mrs Rason, our Deputy Houseparent/ Matron, and caring and nurturing resident tutors. The team offers continuous support for our pupils, promoting independence whilst ensuring inclusivity and maintaining a structured routine that nurtures both academic and personal growth.

Our pastoral staff create a warm and welcoming environment, helping pupils develop essential life skills, grow in confidence, and thrive in their boarding experience. This supportive environment allows young boarders to flourish, preparing them for the opportunities that lie ahead from Year 9 and beyond.

Lower School pupils have the option to choose between weekly boarding or flexi boarding.
