At Haileybury, sport has always played a central role in the life and many of our alumni have gone on to play at regional and national level.

We are proud to have world-class sports coaches, including Michael Owen who played rugby for Wales and the British and Irish Lions. Sport Scholarships recognise and reward the most outstanding candidates who exhibit particular skills in a given sport and strong competitive and leadership potential.

Scholars are expected to be active and positive contributors to the School’s sporting life throughout the year, setting an impeccable example on and off the field of play.

We award scholarships in hockey, netball, lacrosse, tennis, rugby, cricket and football.

At 11+, attitude, athletic ability and rwa talent are our key factors in selecting a sports scholar.

At 13+, excellence of performance, and immense level of promised and/or potential for leadership in one sport can lead to the aware of a scholarship.

At 16+, high performance in a nominated sport, leaderships skills and a first class attitude are all essential attributes in selecting a sports scholar.

All applicants who are awarded a sports scholarship at 13+ and 16+ will also receive an invitation to the Haileybury High Performance Programme.
