Swimming is a key sport for our pupils both from a competitive but also well-being perspective, and is available all year round for all our year groups.
We are lucky to have a stunning 25m indoor swimming pool with six lanes here on site, which is lifeguarded throughout the week. The weekly programme includes both free swim opportunities for all, as well as nine windows for our performance squad to train for competitions.
Pupils are able to swim all year round as part of our sports programme on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
We also have early morning and evening sessions for those that want to compete, as well as free swimming sessions for pupils who just want to swim for fitness.
We take part in the ESSA Secondary Schools Championships and, last year, four of our swimmers made it to the Medley Relay National Finals at the London Aquatic Centre.
We also enter the Hertfordshire Schools Swimming League, where our senior girls have won the title for the last three years and all age groups won trophies and medals in the final.
Last year our Senior girls were victorious in winning the prestigious Bath and Otter Cup at the Olympic pool making them National Champions in the Medley Relay which is a huge achievement. We also host and travel away to friendly galas across the year and give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to represent Haileybury by swimming against other schools.
Haileybury is proud to have a 25m indoor swimming pool with six lanes, competition blocks and anti-wave lane ropes.
Our swimming team will embark on a tour to Barcelona in October 2023 for our inaugural warm weather training camp.
Kate Liddiard, Haileybury’s Head of Swimming, swam with Haringey Aquatics representing the County and Region and has knowledge of both training for and competing at high level competitions. She is a Level 2 coach in both swimming and triathlon and used to regularly participate in both sports.
