Head of Lower School

George Seccombe, Head of Lower School from September 2024, was previously Housemaster of Trevelyan for five and a half years.

George joined Haileybury as Head of Geography in September 2014 having previously taught at The London Oratory School in Fulham and then at Shiplake College near Henley-on-Thames. George has run several geography field trips in the past, including the annual Fifths GCSE geography to Iceland.

Away from Lower School and teaching, George is fully involved in the CCF as an Officer in the Army Section and is a rugby and football referee, as well as a cricket coach.

George is married to Helen, a professional golfer, and they have two sons, Harry and Charlie, and two spaniels called Reggie and Fudge. The Seccombes enjoy spending their holidays at the family holiday home on the west Welsh coast where the dogs can run wild on the beach, the children can build sandcastles to their hearts’ content and George and Helen can do battle on the golf course.

Houseparent of Highfield

Lauren Davey, Houseparent of Highfield, joined Haileybury in September 2016 as a Resident Tutor in Highfield and Head of Lacrosse.

Since joining, Lauren became Assistant Housemistress of Highfield and in 2020 took the role of Head of Lower School 1 before being appointed Houseparent of Highfield in 2021.

Lauren lives in Highfield with her husband Kieran who is also a PE teacher at a school in Stevenage. Lauren enjoys all sports and when she is not in Highfield, she can be found down on the sports pitches coaching sport to pupils. In her free time, Lauren enjoys skiing, cooking, crafting and visiting family in Cornwall.

Head of Lower School 1

Clare Grant joined Haileybury in September 2024 as Head of Wellbeing and teacher of history and served as DSL last year.

Clare has previously taught history at St George’s College Weybridge for 11 years where she had a number of roles including Head of Year, Head of the Junior Extension Programme and Head of House. She has been on and led many history trips to Europe and the United States and has been involved in the wider co-curricular programme.

Clare is married to James, an A & E Consultant and they have three children, two of whom are currently at Haileybury with the youngest hoping to join his brother and sister next year. In her spare time, she is an avid reader, an enthusiastic cook and loves going to museums and the theatre.

Head of Lower School 2

Jessica Tofts-Waters joined Haileybury in 2018 as a member of the Learning Support Department. Since then she has become Head of Learning Support alongside her Head of Year role in Lower School 1.

Jessica’s role in Lower School is to support the monitoring and academic progress of the pupils in Lower School 1. This role involves liaising with staff about pupil progress as well as looking at differing levels of support and interventions should the team feel the need. Jessica also works alongside the Head of Lower School ensuring all pupils experience a smooth transition from their previous school settings into their secondary environment. Heads of Year in Lower School also oversee tutor time and lead Lower School assemblies.

Jessica lives locally with her partner and daughter and they enjoy travelling and visiting family in Portugal where Jessica went to school.

Deputy Houseparent and Matron of Highfield

Hayley Rason is the Deputy Houseparent and Matron of Highfield. She joined Haileybury in February 2010, starting as Matron in Laurence House. In 2016, Hayley became part of the Highfield team, where she lives with her husband, Ben, their son, Daniel, and their two cats, Bella and Oscar.

Hayley enjoys creating fun activities for the boarders and helping to make Highfield a welcoming place for everyone.

In her free time, she likes crafting and baking. Hayley has family in Shropshire and enjoys visiting them and spending time in the countryside.
