Academic Scholarships recognise and reward the most outstanding candidates who exhibit academic rigour and intellectual curiosity.
Haileybury recognises that all pupils have particular strengths and aptitudes which require nurture and support – our Academic Scholars have strong intellectual abilities and a particularly impressive work ethic.
The qualities we seek will typically embrace the Haileybury ethos of inquisitiveness, resourcefulness and generosity of spirit.
Haileybury’s Academic Scholars are expected to be the School’s leading ambassadors, challenging themselves, and their peers, to improve.
All scholars are also offered the opportunity to attend courses and workshops which stretch the most able.
Current enrichment for Scholars includes:
- Trips to museums, galleries, the Royal Opera House and universities
- Lectures from experts
- Participation in nationally-recognised competitions such as Academic Olympiads, university essay competitions, debating competitions and Poetry by Heart.
- Use of online resources such as Khan Academy, OU Short Courses and FutureLearn
- Additional qualifications: Scholars are expected to take an extra or early I/GCSE.
