Haileybury has superb golf facilities with a simulator and indoor putting green, and with Hanbury Manor Golf Club, just 10 minutes up the road.
The golf team play matches against other schools at some of the area’s top courses. A unique handicapping system allows pupils of different ages, abilities and genders to play competitively against each other whilst promoting the development of friendships across all year groups. Current pupils Sebastiano Torrado, Gianpietro Pittatore and Mia De Marchi have played in junior national competitions.
Our pupils are fortunate to be coached both indoors and outdoors at Hanbury Manor Golf Club by Head Teaching Professional Glenn Gardiner as well as four single-figure handicap golfers on the teaching staff provide guidance and tips to the pupils.
The golf team enter the two prestigious national competitions for independent schools, the HMC Foursomes and the ISGA Matchplay. Haileybury has reached the area final in both competitions in the last five years.
Sir Michael Bonnalack OBE is Haileybury’s most distinguished golfing former pupil, winning the British Amateur Championships five times (1961-1970) and playing in thirteen Open Championships.
