New Advanced AI, Cyber Security and App Design curriculum pathway available to Removes pupils from September 2023

Haileybury is delighted to announce that a new Computer Science curriculum pathway, Advanced AI, Cyber Security and App Design, will be available from September 2023 to Removes pupils (Y9).

This pathway incorporates three of the most contemporary topics within the field of Computer Science.

In the first term, pupils will study Artificial Intelligence, including considering AI’s ethical and societal impact.

In the second term, they will explore cyber security, considering advanced methods of protection against online threats, such as quantum computing encryption techniques.

In the final term, the focus will change to app design; this unit will blend creativity, coding and problem solving in order to create mobile games and websites.

“Computing and technology are fast-evolving and ever-changing subject areas and as educators we therefore need to keep adapting our approach to make sure that we are preparing our pupils in the best possible way. The hugely exciting new pathway that our Computer Science Department are offering to our Removes pupils goes far beyond just acquiring the skills needed for using and programming computers and looks at how technology is driving innovation in the world, considering the challenges that stem from this as well as the benefits. The pathway equips pupils to not just be technologically proficient but also to be well-informed, forward-thinking and responsible online citizens.” – Miles Tomkins, Director of Studies
