Year 7s win Lea Valley hockey
On Wednesday 28 March the Year 7 Lea Valley hockey tournament came to Haileybury. The weather was extremely kind and our girls were very much favourites to win.
They started the tournament well, beating John Warner by 5 goals to 0. Sometimes these competitions come down to goals scored so the girls were keen to score as many as they could. They won their next two games just as easily against Turnford and Sele.
They met Broxbourne next who are always very strong in these tournaments but the girls were not intimidated and won 2-0. Their final game was against Presdales who were also unbeaten in the tournament so far – Haileybury played magnificently and scored 2 goals to Presdales’ 0.
The girls were magnificent and played some fantastic hockey, getting better and better as the tournament progressed. There were some fantastic goals scored by Jessica Bilings, lizzie Bird and Kyere MacPherson-Smith. Grace Whittaker played well in the mid field and Rosie Ayton and Brittany Cronin were solid in defence. A big congratulations goes to Charlotte Knight who did not let a goal past her all day!
