Swim Academy - Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I join Haileybury Swim Academy swimming lessons?

To Join our Swim Academy, click here. You will then be able to set up an account and add your child/children’s details. Please note that you should only create one account per family. You can join our swimming lessons at any time and will only pay for the lessons from the date of joining.

  • Who can join Haileybury Swim Academy?

We offer swimming lessons for children from the age of four months. In these lessons, the children are accompanied into the water by an adult until they are three years old. From the age of three years, your child will attend swimming lessons independently. There is no age limit to who can learn to swim – we offer lessons for babies through to adults.

  • What is the Home Portal?

Home portal is our online platform where you can access your child/children’s progress in their swimming lessons. You will also be able to move your child/children up to the next stage of swimming when they are ready.

  • Can I freeze my child’s swimming lessons?

Freezing of swimming lessons will only be approved based on medical grounds, with supporting evidence submitted to our Swim Academy Manager swimacademy@haileybury.com

  • What qualifications do your swimming teachers hold?

All of our swimming teachers hold a Swim England Level 2 Qualification or a Swim Teacher Association Certificate. All of our swimming teachers have full vetting and have an enhanced DBS.

  • What do I need to bring to my child’s swimming lesson each week?

Your child will need to arrive for their swimming lesson beach-ready. They will need to bring a swimsuit (we do not allow bikinis or tankinis), a towel, goggles and your swim hat. Your teacher will provide you with your swim hat on your first lesson. All swim hats are colour-coded to the stage of the lesson. For adult and children, we advise bringing two towels, one to wrap around your
baby on exiting the water, then a dry one to use once they are in the changing rooms.

  • Can I change my child's day and time of swimming lessons?

We recognise that at times situations may change and you may need to adjust the time and day of your swimming lessons. Whilst we are happy to do this, we do recommend this is not carried out too often as it can unsettle your child’s learning. If you need to make any changes to your day and time, please email us swimacademy@haileybury.com

  • Who is Swim England?

Swim England is the governing body of swimming, we follow their guidelines and National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
