Post GCSE Trip

A group of seventeen enthusiastic fifth-formers boarded the coach on the last Saturday of term for the long trip to Lake Biscarosse, south of Bordeaux in France. The journey was difficult but on arrival we quickly headed for the swimming pool and then later down to the beach. The programme of activities started the next day and over the course of the week the pupils took part in sailing, windsurfing, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing and body boarding. Each day there was something different and the evening activities kept everyone busy right to the end of the day. If you preferred instead of the multi-activities described above you could have opted for an RYA windsurfing or sailing course. As the Activity Centre was on the edge of a large campsite, the accommodation was in tents and all the meals were taken in the open air. The food was good and there was plenty of it, although the shop on site provided a good means for topping up of chocolate, snacks and drinks. The swimming pool always provided a good place to cool off in the late afternoon before supper.

We travelled off-site on a couple of occasions; we went down to the Pyrenees for some white-water rafting and to the local beach for an evening out and then again for an afternoon’s sun bathing and body-boarding.

"This is just to say how much I enjoyed the trip to Bordeaux and I know everyone else feels the same. It was definitely the best school trip I’ve been on. We all really respected the freedom we were allowed and it was so nice to get away from school and to celebrate GCSE’s with our friends around us. To persuade the fifths tell them it was really great, we all enjoyed ourselves, and that everyone should go on it if they have the chance. It’s worth it."
