Lacrosse teams come out tops against Uppingham
The 1st XII lacrosse team came up against Uppingham last weekend, coming away with a fabulous win.
Having lost their first match against this formidable squad, the players were somewhat nervous in training. Their nerves were not put at ease when their regular goalie, Helen Mallinson, was unable to play. Luckily, Lizzie Stock volunteered to play, but she saw very little action once the defence settled. Our attack pulled out to an early lead and continued to pile on the goals through coordinated plays and one-man drives.
The final score was a crushing 11-3 win.
The 2nd XII played a tough and physical match. Our athletes pulled out to a quick lead on three Lucy Phillips goals. The Uppingham girls battled back though in the beginning of the second half and both teams traded goals down to the wire, capped by a pair of scores by Shannon Gregory and one by Laura Niesslein. In the end, the suffocating defence of Noor Hasan and Emily Bowden-Eyre proved too thorough for the Uppingham squad, and Haileybury finished the game with a hard-fought 6-4 victory.
