The focus will be on choral technique and performance in preparation for a final concert in our School Chapel.

The concert will see each school choir perform a competition piece of their choice before joining forces with the other competing schools to sing a group song in the spectacular acoustics of the Chapel. 

Our annual Choral Competition is a highlight in our Music calendar and we are so looking forward to welcoming your talented choral singers to Haileybury.

Event information

• The day will run from 11.30 am – 6.15 pm on Monday 19 January 2026 at Haileybury.
• Each school is invited to bring one choir of up to twenty-five pupils, accompanied by at least two members of staff.
• Participating pupils must in Year 5 and/or 6.
• Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
• Parents are warmly invited to watch the final concert in Chapel
  More information for parents will be circulated in the Autumn Term.

Entry Requirements

• Each school should prepare one competition song of their choice.
  There are no restrictions to the genre but it must not be longer than four minutes in length (cuts of longer songs are acceptable and backing tracks should not be used).
• All choirs will have the opportunity to practice their competition song in Chapel before the final competition performance at the end of the afternoon.
• Piano accompaniment can be provided with advanced notice. All choirs requiring accompaniment must provide a copy of their sheet music.
• During the concert each school will come together to perform a group song. The sheet music for the group will be shared with the participating schools in the Autumn Term.
  Pupils will have the opportunity to practice the song in a masterclass on the day.  However, it is strongly encouraged to familiarise them with the song during choir rehearsals leading up to the event.
