Launch of Haileybury Pioneers: The Programme of Leadership and Enterprise
On Tuesday 8 September, Haileybury welcomed an impressive gathering of industry leaders to the Library to formally launch ‘Haileybury Pioneers’ – our very own Programme of Leadership and Enterprise. The evening brought together leaders from law, banking, finance, engineering and technology.
Beginning in January 2027 and working in small groups over ten weeks, Sixth Form pupils will tackle simulated organisational challenges under the supervision of their professional mentors, before presenting and defending their recommendations at the end of term. They will learn to weigh competing priorities and be expected to think creatively and critically in solving complex problems – all while developing their communication and networking skills. This is a programme that will see our pupils developing those skills they will need to thrive in the world of work.
The aim is to give pupils meaningful opportunities to practise leadership and enterprise, developing the judgement, curiosity, confidence and ability to collaborate that will help them thrive in the world of work. Spending time with experienced professionals will also allow pupils to explore how decisions are made when there is no single, straightforward answer.
The launch was met with considerable enthusiasm, with mentors already expressing their excitement about taking part in the January pilot. Their readiness to contribute time and expertise marks an exciting first step in building a network that will challenge and support our pupils.
