Hearts & Wings

This summer marked the third year of Hearts & Wings, our week-long residential holiday for children with disabilities, run in partnership with Green Frog. Based in Batten and Kipling, the programme welcomed 25 young ‘holidaymakers’ (ages 11–17), each paired with their own helper to ensure 1:1 care at all times.

The team was extraordinary – 36 Haileybury Sixth Formers and recent OHs, supported by 33 experienced staff and four of our teachers – all working together to create a truly unforgettable week.

From swimming, pizza-making, bushcraft, and talent shows to magical trips to Legoland, Hertfordshire Zoo, Frinton beach and more, every day was packed with joy, laughter and adventure. Ofsted once again rated the programme “Outstanding, with no recommendations” which is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.

The impact was threefold: a fun-filled, action-packed week for the holidaymakers; a life-changing experience for our helpers; and precious respite for families and carers. Most importantly, it was all made possible thanks to the generosity of our community through fundraising, Giving Week, and Charity Committee initiatives.
