Unbeaten season for squash players

Haileybury’s squash team have enjoyed an excellent season. They have played 11 matches in all during the Christmas term and the Easter term and have enjoyed 10 wins and one draw so far. A win or a draw in the last match of the term would secure them a very impressive unbeaten season.

Says Master-in-charge, Richard Wilson: "We have benefited from having a very stable line-up and have been fortunate enough to have been at full strength most of the time. The pupils have worked really hard during training and have responded well to their individual and group coaching sessions. There is a very good team spirit and a supportive atmosphere among the players and the overall team performance has been getting better and better with each match."

Nick Brooks (Tr), Laurent Duplix (K) Jack Wareing (B), Amrit Ratnani (K) and Alex Walkey (B) are experienced players and have been involved in full-time team squash for three years. Sam Billings (BFr), David Wilson (BFr) and Sam Wilson (BFr) have also been around for a while and their playing record at Haileybury is particularly impressive in that they have never lost a school match. The line-up is completed by Florian Lindermann (L) and Francesco Lupis (K) who have made good progress and played well in their first year of team squash. Ben Dicks (BFr) and John Wong (K) have also filled in when required.

"The team has excellent strength in depth," continues Richard. "The top eight are quite evenly matched and, as a result, we have been able to overwhelm other schools in the middle and lower order in particular. The boys have shown a high level of fitness, technical skill, commitment and sportsmanship and we can all be very proud of their achievements."
