Pupils and families gather on Speech Day to celebrate a tremendous year

It has been a truly tremendous year here at Haileybury and it was a pleasure to welcome all our pupils and their families today to celebrate everyone’s achievements.

Speech Day celebrations started with a wonderful service led by Dr Gary Wade, with the Reverend Paul Hunt, in our wonderful Chapel. Pupils and parents then made their way to the marquee on Terrace for the speeches and prize giving. It was a pleasure to welcome Sir Mark Walport to Haileybury as our guest speaker. Sir Mark has enjoyed a distinguished career; as the current Chair of Imperial College Health Partners, he is an important national figure and we were delighted that he accepted our invitation to speak on such an important day for us.

Speech Day is a celebration of the achievements and successes of all of our pupils and who they are. Today’s prize giving recognised these achievements which have been many and wide-ranging, both from an academic perspective but also in terms of endeavours outside of the classroom.

Today was also a celebration of our community and what the School stands for. We would like to express our gratitude to our pupils’ parents for their continuing support for the School and we hope that they enjoyed the day as much as we have.

Finally, today we said farewell to those leaving the School. We hope that our Upper Sixth pupils enjoyed their Leavers’ Ball and we wish them the very best for the future!
