LS pupil is Young Geographer of the Year finalist

Congratulations to Lower School pupil Isobel Taylor who will attend the Royal Geographical Society in London this week for the Young Geographer of the Year awards, as one of only three ‘Highly Commended’ entries in the 9-11 age category.

Isobel’s achievement follows that of fellow Haileybury pupil Alessio Young, who was ‘Highly Commended’ for his entry in 2010. The 2012 competition is only the second time Haileybury pupils have entered the competition, so we have had winning entries on both occasions.

Geography teacher Jess Burger explains, "All Lower School pupils produced a piece of work for this year’s assignment and we then selected the best eight to enter across both year groups. Isobel was one of just two LS1 (Year 7) entries by us into the 9-11 age category. The pupils did some work in class but it required a good deal of research at home as well as exploring their local area and taking photographs in order to do well. Isobel clearly explored her local area in depth!"
