Lambrook Haileybury wins Under 11 netball
Lambrook Haileybury notched up their second successive win in the Haileybury U11 Netball Tournament recently. They took the title after beating St Joseph’s in the Park 4-3 in the final.
Five schools participated in the tournament, which started at 10.30am and saw continuous play until lunchtime.
The third and fourth place play-off was between Barnardiston Hall and St Paul’s Cathedral School, with Barnardiston Hall winning after a 2-1 victory.
The final was a hard fought match and was truly a game of two halves. Lambrook Haileybury stormed ahead in the first half, leading 4-0 by half time, but St Joseph’s fought back valiantly in the second half, scoring three goals in succession. However, Lambrook Haileybury managed to hang on for 4-3 victory.
The award for Player of the Day went to Abigail Stratford from St Joseph’s in the Park.
Many thanks to Louise Rudd, Annie Thomas, Jenny Howard and Kate Ettershank for giving up their time to umpire matches. Also, a very big thank you to Maggie Brooking for helping with the organisation of the day.
