Jamie in semi-final of Rugby World Cup

On the eve of the semi-final World Cup Under 20 rugby match – England v South Africa – Haileybury pupil Jamie George (BFr) writes to us from Tokyo:

"So far we have played Japan, Scotland and Samoa, and we have won all our games, which means we come out top of our group. Samoa was the highlight as we got to face the haka, an experience I will never forget.

The playing conditions are very hard as, despite not being sunny, it is extremely humid which means that we lose a lot of weight during the games. We are now drawn to play South Africa in the semi-final and it has always been a dream of mine to play against them. I am looking forward to the possibility of being part of a World Cup final.

Outside of rugby, I have been lucky enough to see the sights of Tokyo and it is a truly amazing city. It was a massive culture shock for everyone and there are many rules that we have to abide by, such as taking shoes off in certain places etc which as been very hard to adapt to."

Good luck to the team and especially to Jamie!
