Heath Mount wins Haileybury Technology Challenge

Year 6 pupils from Heath Mount Preparatory School emerged as the overall winners in this year’s Haileybury Technology Challenge, which had the Olympics as its theme.

Eight schools in all participated in the day – Aldwickbury School, Beechwood Park, Duncombe, Heath Mount, Hilden Oaks, Lochinver House, Roselands Primary School and St Joseph’s in the Park.

The Head of the Design Technology Department at Haileybury, Graeme Macpherson-Smith, said the overall standard of work was excellent, particularly as some of the pupils had had little previous exposure to technology.

In addition to the Olympic logo competition, there were three other challenges based around athletic events. Girls from Hilden Oaks School in Kent won the competition to redesign the 2012 Olympic logo. Aldwickbury won the shot putt challenge, Lochinver House the javelin device and Duncombe the long jump device.

This is the second year in a row that Heath Mount has taken home the Technology Challenge trophy.
