Haileybury chefs prove successful at Hotelympia

Haileybury’s team of chefs from catering company Compass came away with several awards following the Hotelympia exhibition, held at ExCel in London, last week.

With encouragement and support from Mike Hodges, Executive Chef, many of the Haileybury team were competing for the first time. Their results in various classes resulted in the following awards:

  • Craig Porter, Chef de Partie – Bronze Medal – Junior Traditional Pasta – Live Theatre
  • Stephen Smith, Pastry Chef – Bronze Medal – Plated dessert
  • Ben Sultson, Head Chef – Certificate of Merit and Hygiene Award – New Zealand Lamb – Live Theatre
  • Jamie Pead, Sous Chef – Certificate of Merit and Hygiene Award – Traditional Pasta – Live Theatre

Hotelympia is a major exhibition for the foodservice and hospitality industry. The exhibition includes many trade stands as well as hosting the renowned Le Salon Culinaire International de Londres with over 1 200 chefs competing in over 85 different competition classes.
