Good performances at county athletics
Haileybury athletes acquitted themselves extremely well at the County Championships held at the Woodside Stadium in Watford last weekend.
Three pupils won their events: Kyrylo Sukhanenko (K) won the Boys U17 hammer, Antonio Infantino (LS) won the Boys U15 100m, and Sophie Auster (Aby) won the Girls U20 3000m. Two school records were set – by William Englander (Ed) in the Boys U17 Discus with 37.63 and by Jack Hobbs (K) in the Boys U15 High Jump with 1.66m.
The athletes obtained six second places and five third places, revealing the great depth in the current squad. A number of those pupils who came second, including Douglas Chick (L) in the Boys U15 Hammer and Shot, were particularly close to winning.
