Energy Self-sufficiency and Reduction

Achievements to date

• A new heating protocol has been introduced that will limit the amount of gas the School uses at times when gas is not required
• The period of time that the swimming pool is covered will be extended to prevent heat loss
• There will be a reduction in the pool temperature by one degree
• A comprehensive sustainability review of all the core buildings will be undertaken with focus on window quality and roof insulation
• Haileybury engaged Zellar, the sustainability platform, to review the School’s carbon footprint and provide a blueprint for zero carbon and energy self-sufficiency.
