“We want our school to continue to be a place where pupils can succeed and pursue their talent, wherever that talent lies. We would not be able to achieve this goal without contributions from our wider family and we are enormously grateful to all our supporters.”
Nick Gilbert (Tr 96) Chairman of the Development Board and Governor
We have a passionate wish to support talented pupils or those in significant pastoral need, whose parents could not otherwise afford the fees, to benefit from an education at Haileybury. Bursaries are available to all pupils and are assessed by case of demonstrable financial need. A Bursary can vary in size and is awarded according to need and is dependent upon the funds available to the Master.
Many Haileybury pupils past and present have been supported by the Bursary Fund. However, the funds available are never enough to support the demands and Haileybury would like to be in a position to be able to support all requests.
Any successful Bursary recipient must satisfy the College’s entry requirements and continue to work to their highest ability throughout their time at Haileybury.
We are committed to increasing the number of Bursary awards available to children for whom Haileybury is the right school. We offer Bursaries because we believe that the academic, sporting and co-curricular opportunities offered at Haileybury can have a transformative impact on a child’s life, and we know that the pupils who receive Bursaries thrive within the Haileybury family. The benefits are important to the whole school: diversity within the classroom has a positive impact on all pupils’ learning and development.
Haileybury offers a number of Scholarships for talented young people at 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry. Our Scholarships include Academic, Sport, Music and Art and/or Design Technology; for those applying at age 11, All Rounder Scholarships are also available.
The very essence of a Scholarship is to support gifted and talented young people and to help the pupils succeed and excel in their areas of expertise.
Our previous Scholars have gone on to be a true reflection of excellence in their field, and by awarding a Scholarship to these pupils they have been encouraged and supported in pursuing their talents.
The generosity of Old Haileyburians, parents, trusts and companies is warmly appreciated by our College community, securing an education of the highest quality for our Scholars and Bursary pupils and allowing us to plan for the future with confidence. We know that, increasingly, independent school fees may either in part or in total be beyond the reach of some families; our fundraising efforts are now more important than ever. Every penny received for both Bursaries and Scholarships will go directly into supporting a Haileybury pupil and by doing so create a wonderful foundation for their future.
