HYT awarded major grant and launches new website!

HYT is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a Global Grant of £25,000 from the Rotary Foundation International. The award will allow HYT to train 20 young Ugandans in building and construction skills, giving them opportunities for employment and income-generation. In addition to this training programme, HYT will build 14 water storage tanks, 8 shower blocks and 8 pit latrines for schools in impoverished rural villages. Girls in AEGON Tennis Final

Congratulations to the Under 15 tennis girls who have reached the regional Final of the AEGON Tournament. In their semi final against Haberdashers they won comprehensively, 12-0 and will now take on St.Albans in the final, at a date to be announced. The girls in the team are: Alice Moniz, Sophie Moniz, Alex Pavlova and Georgia Billings. Well done girls! The final is being played at Haileybury on Wednesday 4th July at 2.15 on the Hailey Lane Courts and all support would be most welcome.  > more

Haileybury pupils win Rotary Technology Challenge

On Tuesday 19 June over 100 pupils from schools in the Hertford, Ware and Broxbourne areas competed in the Rotary Technology Challenge at the Broxbourne Civic Hall, part of the 10,000 who take part annually in the UK. Teams of four in three age categories of Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors had to design and construct a coin-sorter, for a charity of their own choice, from a pack of limited materials and using only hand-tools. Golf v Hanbury Manor

Club Match vs. Haileybury School On Tuesday 19th June the inaugural match between Hanbury Manor and Haileybury School was played. The match consisted of teams of 6, played as three 4-balls, using the "Ryder Cup" match-play format of ¾ handicap, with one point awarded for a win, or if the match was even a ½ point to each team. VERDI: Star-studded cast returning to Haileybury on 30th June

At the front end of this year's Haileybury Week, the greatest of Requiems is being performed on Saturday 30th June, 7:30pm in Big School. Verdi's Requiem will be performed by soloists Elin Pritchard (soprano), Rosie Aldridge (Mezzo), Drummond Walker (Tenor), Nicholas Garrett (Bass), conducted by Quentin Thomas with OH singers, Choral Society, singers from the Chapel Choir and professional orchestra.
