Boys' athletics team in regional finals

Haileybury's Inter Boys athletics team (15 boys from Removes and Middles) have made it through to the East Anglia Regional Finals of the National Track and Field Cup, with the 33rd highest score in the country out of the 542 schools competing. Although we'll need to improve to make the final (top 12), especially as we are drawn in the toughest region, boasting no fewer than 24 of the top 35 teams countrywide, some excellent recent performances may well mean we have a good chance. U15 tennis girls win group stage of AEGON tournament

Congratulations to our Under 15 girls' AEGON team who won their second match in the group stages of the tournament yesterday. With only three teams in their group, they have come top and will therefore play in the next stage of the tournament. This is the first time a younger age group from Haileybury has progressed so far in this particular tournament.  > more

Christian excels in the ISFA U15 squad

Congratulations to Christian Scales (BFr), who was selected to play for the Under 15 Independent Schools Football Association squad in a four-team tournament last Friday at Manchester United's Carrington training ground. Christian was one of only two players to play all three matches for the ISFA team in full. He played at centre back. The ISFA team did very well, coming second of the four teams, losing 1-0 to United, drawing 2-2 with Exeter and beating Bradford 3-0. Westbrook Hay wins Haileybury Technology Challenge

A team of three Year 6 pupils from Westbrook Hay Prep School has won the 2012 Haileybury Technology Challenge. Themed on the Olympics, the challenges faced by the six teams of pupils who participated were specially created by our Technology Department staff to test pupils' analytical aptitude and innovative skills. The first challenge involved each team member designing both sides of a new Olympic medal which was then transferred onto CAD/CAM by the children. Callum wins county long jump title

Congratulations to Callum Scutt (Tr), who competed at the Hertfordshire County Athletics Championships on Sunday, 13 May in Watford and won the Under 17 Long Jump. Callum's target for the season is to qualify for the English Schools National Championships to be held in Gateshead in July.  > more

Congratulations to Callum Scutt, who competed in a National Young Athletes League meeting yesterday at Lee Valley for Shaftesbury Harriers and recorded a personal best in the long jump of 6.14m and won the Under 17 event. This is his first year competing at Under 17s. Well done, Callum!  > more

Haileybury hosts East of England Junior Schools' Aquathlon

Haileybury is proud to be hosting the East of England Junior Schools' Aquathlon on Friday, 11 May. Over 240 children will be competing in a swimming and long distance running challenge as part of a national drive to prepare young people for the challenges of the Triathlon, in order to raise the focus on this sport and help develop future Olympic Triathlon athletes. The event will take place mostly in the Sports Complex swimming pool and on a route around 20 Acre/Quitchells. The School has agreed to supply 37 pupil marshalls to help host this  > more

Oliver placed in top 100 in Maths Olympiad

Following on from the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, Fifths pupil Oliver Zhu (Th) has qualified for the British Maths Olympiad and was awarded a Gold medal and a Certificate of Distinction. This places Oliver among the top 100 entrants in the country. Well done!  > more

Athletes perform superbly at Butler Shield

On Saturday, a successful day at Harrow in the Butler Shield left Haileybury's athletics team equalling our best overall result at one of the longest running competitions on the school circuit. Individual performances of the day go to Biyi Alo (L) for his shot put, a distance that qualifies him for the National Championships and places him 9th in the UK so far this year, Eric Chu (Th) for a Triple Jump that currently ranks him 10th in the UK, Matthew Morrison (L) for equalling the school record in the 100m and George Hudson (Tr), for breaking  > more

Songs of Praise music online

Although we didn't win the 2012 BBC School Choir of the Year, our Chamber Choir did us proud. Judge for yourselves by clicking on this link and listening to nearly three minutes of sublime singing. The competition was judged by Russell Watson, Suzi Digby and David Grant in this tenth Songs of Praise school choir competition, which was introduced by Aled Jones from The Lowry Theatre, Salford. Emily stars in Herts U13 regional win
