OH Antonio wins Gold in 200m

Congratulations to Old Haileyburian Antonio Infantino, who won a Gold medal in the men's 200m race at the British University Championships last weekend. Antonio, although ranked 4th going in to the competition because of injury problems, stormed through the rounds to win the final in a lifetime best performance of 21.42s. This takes him to 4th in the UK rankings for 200m senior men. Mayowa scores winning goal for ISFA U16 team

Well done to Mayowa Balogun, who captained the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) Under 16 team to victory over Blackburn Rovers FC last Sunday, 26 February. The team won 2-1, with Mayowa scoring the winning goal. All this was after performing a dance routine in Cabaret the evening before! 1st XI v OH WON 3-0 (King, Agass, Tivey) Haileybury's 1st XI achieved back-to-back clean sheets in a truly impressive weekend of hockey. Against a high quality OH side, Sam King put the 1st XI ahead and Mark Agass and Dom Tivey finished off slick moves in the second half to win the game 3-0. 1st XI hockey boys in a win against Merchant Taylors

1st XI v Merchant Taylors WON 1-0 (Stanyard) In the match on Saturday, the 1st XI showed great discipline and organisation in their defensive formation and kept a deserved clean sheet, restricting Merchant Taylors' to only three efforts on goal via penalty corners. Ben Balmforth showed great presence in the D and managed MTs' three potentially dangerous drag flicks with efficiency. Luke Anthony bossed proceedings with an imperious performance at the back, whilst Ben Spencer and Will Stanyard showed some real dexterity going forward.  > more

St George's win Haileybury Shield 2012

A fantastic day of hockey was held yesterday in bright sunshine as Haileybury hosted the IAPS U11 London and South Divisional tournament yesterday. St George's College JS beat Old Buckenham Hall (OBH) in a thrilling final. Brandeston Hall beat St Andrew's Woking to take the Plate title. St George's, OBH, Ashfold School and Kimbolton progress to the national finals. Congratulations also to Ben Coldicott of Ashfold School who was named Player of the Day.  > more

Haileybury appoints Ruth Sullivan as Deputy Master

Haileybury has announced the appointment of Ruth Sullivan, the school's current Acting Head of Geography, as Deputy Master from September 2012. Ruth will take over from Rob Turnbull (Second Master), who retires in July. Ruth is the first woman in Haileybury's history to be appointed as deputy head. Prior to her current role at Haileybury, Ruth has been a housemistress (at St John's, Leatherhead and Glenalmond College), Head of Geography, Head of Geology, Head of Outdoor Pursuits, Director of Staff Development, Head of Sixth Form  > more

London gallery to host Haileybury art event

London's Broad Gallery has kindly offered to host a Haileybury event on the evening of 16 March 2012. The gallery will be displaying artwork from this year's art competition winners, alongside famous artists. Pupils whose work will be exhibited include Dalia Frontini, Cristina Martinez- Iborra, Toka Yessimova, Katie Gard, Jordan Carter, Alice Billings, Jona Doda and Samrita Mudher. Haileybury pupils will be competing with the very best schools in the land as they attempt to win the coveted title 'School Choir of the Year' this weekend in Manchester. Currently celebrating its tenth year, the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition is highly anticipated and showcases the most talented school choirs across the UK. Options Evening and Parents' Meeting

Parents should be aware that, as a boarding school, Haileybury will remain open even during these snowy conditions. This evening's Options Evening and Parents' Meeting will proceed as planned. However, parents should not take un-necessary risks if the road conditions are too dangerous to travel into school as all information can be conveyed in other forms or at other times. What to do in the event of snow [updated]

Parents should be aware that, as a boarding school, Haileybury will remain open even during snowy conditions. With the majority of our staff living locally, lessons will proceed as normal. Parents of day pupils or parents of boarders who might be returning after exeat should make every effort to bring their children in for school as usual, but should not take un-necessary risks if the road conditions are too dangerous to travel. String heat winners announced

There were some fabulous performances last night in the String heat of the instrumental competition. In the junior section three commendations for excellent performances went to Dennis Tang, Alexander Blakesley and Jemima Willgoss. The three competitors going through to the final are Samuel Tyler, William Massey and Leah Rosendahl. In the senior section there were also excellent performances from all participants. The three finalists are Matthew Morrison, Beth Westcott and Maxim Souter. Congratulations to all performers.  > more

We are all thrilled with today's news that Haileybury is ranked as being in the Top 5 co-educational IB schools in the country (with 15+ candidates). We also have the third largest IB Diploma cohort of schools offering both A Levels and the IB of all UK private schools, and rank at number 13 for the best co-educational boarding school in the UK for A Level results.
