First Removes debating competition held

On Thursday, 9 December, six Removes competed in the final of the Maiden Speaker's Cup, a debating competition for Haileybury Removes. The motion was This House believes that the release of classified information on wikileaks is a positive move and all speakers showed why they deserved to have qualified for the final. In the end, the judges decided to award 1st place to Sophie Sanders (H), 2nd place to Rotimi Awotesu (L) and 3rd place to Alexandra Oliver (C). All three received prizes and Sophie's name will be engraved on the new trophy.  > more

Andy McNab to visit Haileybury

Author Andy McNab will visit Haileybury at the end of January 2011 as part of the Books@Hoddesdon Meet The Author series. His talk will take place in either the Attlee Room or Big School, and starts at 7.30pm on Monday, 31 January. Andy McNab joined the infantry as a boy soldier. In 1984 he was 'badged' as a member of 22 SAS Regiment and was involved in both covert and overt special operations worldwide. Lacrosse girls come 2nd in county tournament

Last Friday evening saw the Under 19 indoor county lacrosse tournament. A mix of Haileybury's 1st and 2nd team players made up the A and B squads that played a series of four nine-minute matches against some of the most competitive schools in the Hertfordshire conference, including St George's, Berkhamstead, Haberdashers, and St Albans. The A team showed up determined to prove themselves to be a stronger, more experienced team than they were at the county tournament in September.
