HPA House Quiz

The Haileybury Parents' Association is organising an Interhouse Quiz Night on Saturday, 25 September from 7.30 - 10.30pm in Big School. The evening will include an informal supper of lasagne and salad and guests are asked to bring their own nibbles and drinks. Head of Art exhibits at London Design Festival

Haileybury's Head of Art, Jason Marks, will be exhibiting some of his pieces at Designersblock in London between 23 and 26 September. The expo takes place over five floors in and around Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf on the South Bank during the London Design Festival. The exhibition includes the latest work from over 100 of the most exciting emerging and established designers from the UK and around the world. Frank Field raises child poverty issues

Government action to tackle poverty should focus on supporting children during the first five years of their lives, the Labour MP commissioned by David Cameron to carry out a review of the issue said. Former welfare minister Frank Field said that attainment by the age of five matters as much - if not more than - what happens in school, with children with poor development at that age more than six times as likely to end up with no worthwhile qualifications. Frank Field MP to address Haileybury pupils

Frank Field MP will be the guest of honour at the 19th Attlee Memorial Lecture, to be held at Haileybury on Thursday, 16 September 2010. Mr Field has been the Labour MP for Birkenhead since 1979. From 1997 to 1998, he served as the Minister of Welfare Reform before leaving the Government, following differences with the then Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Removes pupil Christian Scales (BFr) featured prominently for the ISFA Under 14 A squad at the Repton Festival from 9 - 12 August. He was instrumental in helping to score vital goals in games against Burton Albion Under 15s (4-4), Leicester City (2-2), Aberdeen (1-0), Mayo (2-1), Milton Keynes Dons (1-1), and Ipswich Town (1-2). Music concert tonight

The first performance of the new academic year will be given by some of our new and established music scholars tonight in Bradby Hall, starting at 8.35pm. League Tables explanation

This year, despite having recorded some of the best ever public examination results, Haileybury decided not to publish its results in the League Tables compiled by the press. This decision was taken because, at the stage when we had to decide the issue, the basis on which the League Tables would be compiled did not seem to be fair and equitable to those candidates who had taken the IB Diploma Programme. Annie in World Sprint Triathlon Champs

Good luck to one of Haileybury's PE teachers, Annie Thomas, who leaves on Wednesday for the World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Budapest. The event takes place from 8 - 12 September. Congratulations to another Haileybury teacher, John Whitworth, who came 14th overall and 5th in his 25-29 age group in last weekend's World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh.  > more
