Rhiannon to compete at World sailing champs

Congratulations to 14-year-old Rhiannon Massey (Aby), who during the Easter break took part in the RYA Volvo Youth National Championships at Weymouth as one of the youngest competitors and was placed 11th out of 35 girls. As a result, she has been selected to compete at the World & European Laser Radial Youth Championships to be held in Scotland in July. John Whitworth wins Duston Triathlon

Congratulations to Economics and Politics teacher, John Whitworth, who won last weekend's Duston Triathlon in an overall time of 55:47. The Duston Triathlon is a "super sprint" ie 400m swim, 20km bike ride and a 5km run. It is one of the first triathlon events of the new season. John recently qualified to represent the GB team to race at the World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh in September, although his main event is the triathlon. The duathlon is a 10km run, 40km bike and 5km swim.  > more

Haileybury receives excellent Ofsted Report

Haileybury's boarding provision has been described by Ofsted inspectors as having "outstanding features", with no recommendations for improvement set. These comments follow an inspection of the School's boarding facilities in March 2010, which looked at the key boarding school national minimum standards under the 'Every Child Matters' outcome groups. Mayowa receives Highly Commended award

Mayowa Balogun (K) has been awarded a "Highly Commended" in the Independent Schools Football Association Under 14 Player of the Year Awards. This effectively means he is one of the runners-up. Around 50 boys have been involved in various ISFA camps and matches during the year so this is a notable achievement and well deserved. Prince Andrew visits Haileybury Almaty

HRH Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, visited Haileybury Almaty on Monday, 19 April 2010 as part of his visit to Kazakhstan to promote British interests in the country. Haileybury Almaty is the only British school in Central Asia. Prince Andrew met Andrew Auster, Headmaster of Haileybury Almaty, and Alister Bartholomew, Project Director of the School's developers, Capital Partners, at the KIOGE exhibition of 2007, and promised to visit the School on his next visit to Almaty. IB Visual Arts Exhibition postponed

Due to the problems of several pupils being unable to return to School on time due to the volcanic ash situation, it has been necessary to postpone the IB Visual Arts Exhibition and Private View. This is now due to take place one week later than originally advertised. The Private View will take place on Thursday, 29 April from 7.30pm - 9pm, with the Exhibition all day on Friday, 30 April and Saturday, 1 May. Message to parents whose children are unable to return to school

All parents whose children are stranded due to flight delays because of the volcanic ash problems over Great Britain are urged to contact their Housemistresses or Housemasters to inform them of when their children might be able to return to school. Alternative methods of transportation are being considered and it would be helpful for HMs to know whether parents have already made plans or not.  > more

James make Herts U13 rugby team

Lower School 2 pupil James Brooking made his debut for the Hertfordshire Under 13 County Rugby team v Kent and Essex on Tuesday, 6 April at Gidea Park, Romford Herts beat Kent 17-12 but went down 7-29 against a very strong Essex team. James scored Herts' only points against Essex, scoring their only try and successfully kicking the conversion. Well done, James!  > more
