Ball raises more than £20,000

The Around the Quad Ball has raised in excess of £20,000 for the Haileybury Development Fund. We are delighted to announce that the Around the Quad Ball proved to be a roaring success. A fine evening of glorious May weather held host to a spectacle of entertainment which included hot air Balloon rides, a fun fair, casino, live band, numerous marquees themed from various continents, as well as an array of spectacular food and drinks. Caleb and Sam score centuries

Over the past two weeks, Haileybury's 1st XI have played some outstanding cricket. In a time game against Uppingham, the visitors scored 253-9 from 61 overs and, in reply, we reached 250-5 from our 55 overs. There was an outstanding run chase that resulted in a winning draw for our boys. Against King's Canterbury in a 50-over aside match, Haileybury won the toss and, in glorious batting conditions, scored a mammoth total of 291-2, with Caleb Stewart scoring 109 not out and Captain Sam Anthony scoring 104 not out. Haileybury Almaty wins architecture prize

The architecture of Haileybury Almaty has been selected as joint winner of the 'Inspiring International Design Category' Award in a showcase of outstanding educational projects in the UK and abroad, presented at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium this week. Jamie performs well for England

Congratulations to Haileybury rugby star Jamie George, who featured prominently in yesterday's final of the IRB TOSHIBA Junior World Championship 2009, held in Japan. Jamie in winning England team

Wonderful news for followers of Jamie George, the Haileybury Sixth Former who is turning out for England in the Under 20 Rugby World Cup in Japan - England beat South Africa 40-21 in the semi-final this morning, and will now face New Zealand in the final on Sunday. This will be shown live at 7am UK time on Eurosport 2. Or to view the game on demand, log on to Jamie played for 50 minutes in the semi-final and was thrilled with the win. Jamie in semi-final of Rugby World Cup

On the eve of the semi-final World Cup Under 20 rugby match - England v South Africa - Haileybury pupil Jamie George (BFr) writes to us from Tokyo: "So far we have played Japan, Scotland and Samoa, and we have won all our games, which means we come out top of our group. Samoa was the highlight as we got to face the haka, an experience I will never forget. The playing conditions are very hard as, despite not being sunny, it is extremely humid which means that we lose a lot of weight during the games. New Beacon win Under 11 cricket tournament

Congratulations to the Under 11 cricket boys from The New Beacon School who beat a team from Heath Mount to win the Haileybury Prep Schools tournament on Sunday. Players of the tournament were: Bowler - Tom Baucher (Heath Mount) Batsman - Zach Crawley (The New Beacon) The schools taking part included: Barnardiston Hall Prep School, Devonshire House Prep School, Duncombe, Edge Grove, Heath Mount School, Keble Prep, St Joseph's in the Park, St Martin's and The New Beacon School. Parents make presentation to The Master

More than 100 parents attended the HPA AGM in the Sixth Form Centre last night, during which a presentation was made to the Master to mark his retirement at the end of this academic year. Guests enjoyed champagne and canapés in the spring sunshine before gathering for the AGM. The Master, Stuart Westley, was then presented with a cheque from the parents, which he may put towards a trip on the Orient Express. Read notes from the AGM.  > more

Antonio turns out for GB at Mannheim

Following an outstanding performance earlier this term, athlete Antonio Infantino has been selected to run in the 200m individual race and the 4 x 100m relay for Great Britain at the Mannheim International on 13 and 14 June in Germany. The Mannheim International is one of the highest level junior competitions outside the World or European Junior Championships each year. The event is part of the German Selection series for their World or European Junior teams. UK Athletics has an invitation to select a small team to take part in this event.  > more
