Antonio wins third English Schools title

Antonio Infantino (Tr) won his third English Schools Championship last weekend in Gateshead, Newcastle. He was representing Haileybury and Hertfordshire in the senior boys' 200m sprint. His time in the semi-final of 21.58s makes him eligible for selecion for the Commonwealth Youth Games in India in October. He has also been selected for the U20s Europa Cup in Serbia in September and will again contest the 200m and the 4x100m relay. Haileybury pupils achieve excellent IB results

Haileybury's International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme pupils have produced yet another strong set of results in their 2008 exams, with 10 of the 59 candidates attaining 40 points or more. The maximum points score that an IB pupil can achieve is 45. The Master, Stuart Westley, says he is delighted that, with an average points score per candidate of 35.4, these were the best IB results since 2003, when there was half the number of candidates. U15 cricketers play their own 'Ashes'

A select band of cricketers, forming the best unit of all Haileybury's Under 15 players, took on the might of the Ivanhoe GS from Melbourne and thus created our own "school-level Ashes"! The game saw ball win over the bat for the most part, with some impressive bowling from both sides. Sam Boothby (Tr) returned 4 for 16 off 8 overs and, with support from the other bowlers, Ivanhoe GS were held to 129 for 7 in 40 overs. Heath Mount wins Haileybury Technology Challenge

Year 6 pupils from Heath Mount Preparatory School emerged as the overall winners in this year's Haileybury Technology Challenge, which had the Olympics as its theme. Eight schools in all participated in the day - Aldwickbury School, Beechwood Park, Duncombe, Heath Mount, Hilden Oaks, Lochinver House, Roselands Primary School and St Joseph's in the Park. Antonio wins at Cambridge

Antonio Infantino last weekend competed at an althletics meeting at Cambridge University, clocking winning times of 10.7s in the 100m and 21.7s in the 200m. "The 200m has put me in good stead for the Sainsbury's English Schools Championships from 9 to 12 July and my national final will be televised at 4pm on Saturday, 12 July on one of the Sky Sports channels," says Antonio, who only recently returned to competition following a hip injury.  > more
