Sir David Willcocks to conduct at Haileybury

Singing enthusiasts will have the honour of working with eminent conductor Sir David Willcocks when Haileybury hosts its first Singing Weekend from 2 to 4 May 2008. The concept of the Singing Weekend was created by Andrew Auster, the new Headmaster of Haileybury Almaty, 24 years ago, and has travelled with him from Shrewsbury, to Malvern, to Orwell Park and now to Haileybury where the Director of Music, Quentin Thomas, has taken on the organisation of the event. Olympic hopeful Antonio meets Daley Thompson

Haileybury's Olympic hopeful, Antonio Infantino, rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Daley Thompson and Geoff Capes, and other aspiring Hertfordshire Olympians last week, during a function at Castle Hall, Hertford held to raise funds for the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund. The Fund assists young track and field athletes who are in education and may need financial help towards training or provision of equipment. Haileybury wins International Safety Award

Haileybury has won an International Safety Award, marking the second year in a row that the school has been honoured in this way by the British Safety Council. Haileybury is the only school to be presented with such an award for 2007. The International Safety Awards scheme is devised to recognise and reward organisations that show a commitment to improving corporate health and safety. Unbeaten season for squash team

Haileybury's Squash team had an excellent season this year and were unbeaten in 12 matches during the Christmas and Easter terms, with 11 wins and 1 draw. Haileybury's international rugby stars shine

Haileybury's two rugby stars, Jamie George and Nico Fraser, were both involved in international fixtures before and during the Easter break. Jamie played for the England Under 18 squad in the Six Nations tournament held in Cork from 25 March to 2 April. He had previously played for the England team in their victory over Wales at Worcester just before the end of last term, which was the first game in their Six Nations campaign.
