Girls show determination in netball event

Haileybury's first game in the Under 14 National Schools Netball Tournament (County Round) was against Loreto College. We tended to be panicky and our game was full of mistakes but we managed to draw 3-3. However, after a few changes to the team and some positional practices, the squad settled down and played some wonderful netball. Our next result was against Hockerill where we won 8-2. Allenby wins House music event

The first House music competition to be held at Haileybury proved such a hit with both pupils and staff that Director of Music, Quentin Thomas, has been inundated with praise since the event on Friday evening. Pupils from all 12 boarding houses participated and there was an atmosphere the likes of which is rarely experienced. "It was truly amazing," says Quentin. Hockey XI beat East U18 champs

Last Saturday, the Haileybury 1st XI beat East Under 18 hockey champions, Queenswood, in a close-fought game in the pouring rain. Queenswood dominated the early exchanges but a stunning run from the half-way line and strike from the top of the circle by Susie Carr made the half-time score 1-1. Haileybury were then all over Queenswood in the second half and deserved to take the lead when Sarah Monk scored from close in. Business Club's inaugural Golf Day

The Haileybury 1806 Business Club held its inaugural Golf Day at Bushey Hall Golf Club on 25 September. Pupils commended for hockey achievements

The following boys deserve huge commendation for their success in gaining representative honours for hockey. The following have been selected, a year young, for the Herts U15 Hockey team: Luke Anthony (B), Michael Davies (B) and Ed Graves (L). Mark Agass (Th) has been selected for Essex U14 and East of England U14. Sam Stock (L) has been selected for Middlesex U14. Sam Wilson (BFr) has been selected for Middlesex U16. Tottenham Hotspur FC launch MLC appeal

Tottenham Hotspur stars Steed Malbranque and Didier Zokora went back to school when they visited Haileybury on Tuesday. The French-speaking players visited Haileybury to launch a fundraising appeal aimed at helping to build a new Modern Languages Centre (MLC). OH Rupert wins Lawrence Olivier Bursary Award

Rupert Savage, who left Haileybury in 2005, has been awarded the Lawrence Olivier Bursary Award by the Society of London Theatre. He was put forward for the award by Drama Centre London, where he is currently studying. Previous recipients include Ewan McGregor and Michael Sheen. The Conference of Drama Schools, which represents all the leading institutions, invites each of its 20 members to nominate one male and one female student.
