Stuart Pilgrim included in England U21 hockey team

Congratulations to OH Stuart Pilgrim (Th), who played for the England's Under 21 hockey team on Tuesday night in a match against Scotland, scoring a goal in their 7-5 victory. Stuart was part of the squad that played four matches against Scotland, winning three and drawing one. He used to play for the Broxbourne team but is now part of Old Loughtonians, which plays in the Premier League of the England National Hockey League. Stuart is studying at Birmingham University. Hockey stars perform well in Easter tournament

The U12 East Divisional Tournament was held over Easter and the core of the Hertfordshire team was made up of Haileybury Hockey stars. Luke Anthony (special congratulations on being the County Captain), Toby Finnis, Edward Graves, Michael Davies and James Trafford all participated. They performed superbly and gained memorable victories over Norfolk and Bedfordshire. There is no East Divisional side at that age group but they will all have a great chance of going a long way in the sport in the years ahead. Well done to them all!  > more

Book of Condolence opened

Haileybury has opened an electronic book of condolence for Lt Richard Palmer, who was killed in Iraq last Saturday. Anyone who knew Richard is invited to submit a comment to be included in the e-book.  > more

Jazz evening in aid of Development Fund

A Champagne and Canapes jazz evening will be held on Friday, 19 May at 7.30pm in Big School in aid of the Development Fund. The wonderful evening of entertainment and infusing rhythms will be provided by Haileybury's Jazz Bands. Tickets are required (£20 per ticket to include a glass of champagne and canapes). With a limited amount of tickets available, you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. All parents, OHs and members of the public are welcome. Renowned designers commit to fashion extravaganza

Dame Barbara Cartland, the East India Company, Swarovski and designer Manish Arora are not usually related in any way but they will be cleverly interlinked during an historical fashion extravaganza at independent school Haileybury in April. In conjunction with the UK's leading fashion producer, Lesley Goring, model agency Storm and with the support of renowned international designers, Haileybury pupils will host a lavish catwalk celebration of fashion through the past 20 decades on 23 April. Lt Richard Palmer 1979 - 2006

It is with immense sadness and shock that the Haileybury community learnt of the death of Lt Richard Palmer in Iraq last Saturday. Richard was in Edmonstone from 1992 to 1997 and is described by his former teachers as "one of the most popular boys in the school during that time". He was the son of Brig John Palmer, who retired as bursar at Haileybury at the end of 2005, and his wife, Sue. He is also survived by his brother, David. After leaving Haileybury, Richard went on to Durham University and then graduated from Sandhurst in 2004.  > more
