New-look Highfield proves a hit

Haileybury's Lower School boys' boarding facility has been substantially increased to house an extra 10 pupils following the completion of building work to Highfield. The project, which has taken six months to complete, is one of the most intensive projects the school has undertaken in such a short time, says Haileybury's domestic bursar, Peter Bailey. Haileybury turns into Hogwarts for the day

The Haileybury Science Department transformed itself into a School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in early March when pupils from 15 prep schools contested the annual Science Challenge. The overall winner for 2006 was Kingshott. The Biology section was won by Loyola Prep while Kingshott proved themselves in the Chemistry section and Lockers Park took the Physics competition. Edge Grove takes hockey title

In a repetition of last year's final, Edge Grove beat Woodford Prep to take the Haileybury Prep Schools Hockey Tournament title. Edge Grove also boasted Man of the Tournament, Oliver Brooks-Ward. Five schools participated in this year's tournament (Edge Grove, Woodford Prep, Quainton Hall, St Paul's Cathedral School and Lockers Park), which started with a round robin of games, where every team had a chance to play each other. Ben to play in U19 World Championships

The RFU has announced that Haileybury's Ben Thomas will be part of the 26-man England squad which will compete in next month's IRB U19 World Championship in Dubai. This Friday brings a forerunner of the contest between England U19s and Ireland U19s as the two teams battle it out at the Twickenham Stoop in their last Six Nations match, kicking off at 7:45pm. 370 delegates for Haileybury MUN this weekend

Nearly 400 delegates from 23 schools around the world will descend on Haileybury this weekend for the annual Haileybury MUN gathering this weekend. There are 69 delegations taking part, as well as 30 Student Officers, some 130 pupil helpers, and 70 staff. Schools attending are from England, the USA, the Netherlands and France. Haileybury chefs prove successful at Hotelympia

Haileybury's team of chefs from catering company Compass came away with several awards following the Hotelympia exhibition, held at ExCel in London, last week. With encouragement and support from Mike Hodges, Executive Chef, many of the Haileybury team were competing for the first time. Haileybury Sports Complex to undergo refurbishment

The Haileybury Sports Complex will undergo a major regeneration during the Easter holidays, causing the centre to be closed for a week. New equipment will be installed in the wet changing rooms, the squash area will be redecorated, and art and sports photographs will decorate the public areas, according to Haileybury's domestic bursar, Mr Peter Bailey.
