U18 hockey girls come 7th in East finals

Congratulations to the U18 girls' hockey team, which yesterday played themselves into seventh position in the East Divisional Finals. Their performance follows on from winning the finals of the county tournament in October, when Haileybury confirmed their position as Hertfordshire's premier hockey school with wins in the finals of the County Under 16s and County Under 18s. The U18s retained the trophy for the third year in a row. The U16 team will participate in the divisional finals on 1 December. We wish them luck!  > more

Heath Mount pupil wins Haileybury art competition

Izzie Glencross, a Year 7 pupil from Heath Mount, was declared the winner of the fourth Haileybury Prep and Primary Schools Art Competition. The awards ceremony took place last Saturday and was attended by about 200 pupils, parents and members of staff from a wide variety of prep and primary schools. Apart from local schools, there were others who came from a distance (eg Reading and Southend-on-Sea) to enjoy the exhibition and awards. Melissa wins national dance title

Haileybury pupil Melissa Fenner (M) was recently crowned the Under 16 Gold Star and Above National Champion in Disco Freestyle. Melissa has been competing in qualifier events throughout the year and qualified at her first competition by coming first. This year's grand final was held in Guildford where, again, heats whittle the numbers of qualifiers down until the final, which Melissa won. Well done!  > more

Unprecedented interest in Sixth Form

Haileybury has had unprecedented interest for Sixth Form next year, with 50 candidates sitting the entrance tests earlier this month, and a further 55 sitting the tests at their schools overseas. Offers will be announced on 30 November 2005. There are in the region of 30 places available and it is very likely that they will all be filled by the end of the year. 1st hockey team unbeaten so far this half term

Since half term the 1st hockey XI have been unbeaten, with a 0-0 draw against Kimbolton, a 2-1 win against Bishop's Stortford College and a 2-0 win over Bancrofts. Haileybury had much the better of the game against a hard-working Kimbolton team and their keeper was forced into a number of good saves as Haileybury put on the pressure. Unfortunately, due to Magenta McDougall and Kate Royds being ill and Sophie Shepherd picking up a hand injury, the squad was depleted and were unable to capitalise on the pressure that we exerted.
