The official opening of the revitalised, refreshed and wonderfully decorated Big School took place last Friday evening in front of a large audience of specially invited guests, parents, pupils and staff. The refurbishment of Big School is as a result of a substantial donation from OH Edward Holroyd, who is also the Chairman of the Development Board. Improvements to the area include a fresh look with the school's new colours and a remodelled entrance hall which now boasts many of the pupils' art pieces. A new staging system has been installed

We were relaxed going into our match against Kimbolton after our big win last week against The Leys. The court was also a bit slippery, but playable, so care had to be taken. Even so, Stephanie Wainwright (GD) still managed some mighty slips! Katy Killen (GK) had the task of marking the tallest GS we have ever seen, and did very well in trying to match this enormous height. Unfortunately, the combination of all of these factors put us 3 – 4 down at the end of the first quarter. After a little pep talk, efforts were upped for the second quarter.

Haileybury's 1st and 2nd lacrosse XII played a weekday fixture against the formidable St Alban's 1st XII in preparation for Saturday's Eastern Qualifier for the National Small School's Tournament. Last year's fixture was a 3-7 loss for our team, with a great knock-on effect for their focus. This year had much the same result for our fitness. St Alban's quickly put away 2 vicious quick-stick goals in the first few minutes. Our goalie, Helen Mallinson, quickly caught on, though, and anticipated the cutters for our hard-pressed defence.
