Haileybury wins BSDRA regatta

Haileybury last week beat five other schools to triumph in the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Thames Valley Area Regatta. Haileybury hosted the event, which was held at the Broxbourne sailing club. The other schools which participated included Aldenham, City of London, Eton, Harrow and Wellington. The event was hosted by Haileybury and BSDRA Commodore, Nick Prosser, acted as Umpire and presented the trophies. Success for athletes in Achilles Relays

This year's 40th anniversary Achilles Relays at the famous Iffley Road stadium in Oxford was a notable success for Haileybury. Twenty five independent schools compete for these prestigious trophies each year. The U17 boys (Bertie Griffith-Jones, Matthew Atkinson, Hugo Henderson and Joseph Jawad - pictured above) won the 4x100m hurdles, beating Millfield in the final. Mixed fortunes in weekend’s matches

Last Saturday, Haileybury Cricket had fixtures against Oundle while Lower School 1st XI played Beechwood Park, beating their opponents convincingly. There were excellent bowling efforts from Rhys Carter and Jamie George who recorded figures of 3 for 3 and 3 for 12 respectively. At Oundle, the XI was restricted to 153 runs. Recognition for MUN delegates

Two Haileybury students, Alex Becker and Dan Kimpton, received Highly Commended awards at the recent St. Andrews International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) held in Dublin. The awards are the second highest personal awards at the conference. Held in the world-renowned Jury's Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin, this MUN gathering is second only to The Hague MUN in importance, and is unmatched in terms of the standard of debate and the atmosphere at the conference. Cricketers go to the Oval

Haileybury cricketers yesterday had the privilege of participating in the inaugural Ben Hollioake Memorial Trophy, a seven-a-side competition held on the main ground at The Oval. An 8:15am meeting, 8:30am competition draw and 9:00am start meant an early start for the team. Breakfast was taken at 6am and we left soon afterwards. Hailey, Edmonstone win House Athletics

House Athletics 2003 was filled with its usual drama and tight competitions. Most of the school was at Wodson Park in Ware for the afternoon. The support was fantastic as pupils and staff urged their houses along. 78 events took place, including 44 on the track in the four hours. The strong wind in the faces of the competitors prevented any notable times on the track but several competitors achieved fantastic times given the impediment. IB Art students hold successful exhibition

A recent exhibition of work by Haileybury IB Visual Arts students at the Courtyard Arts Centre in Hertford was well received by both the public and an IB examiner who marked the work on display. This was the first time that Haileybury students had exhibited work in a public gallery and represented the culmination of their coursework for the year. The students, Sam Small, Anthia Loizos and Nick Goodwille, completed pieces covering a variety of media in 2D and 3D.
