Big School hosts Any Questions?

The debate on Friday 25 April of Any Questions? stimulated not only an array of opinions during the programme and on the Saturday lunch time broadcast on Radio 4, but also after the programme during a reception at the Master's Lodge. Cricket teams put in good effort against Tonbridge

On Saturday 26 April, Haileybury 1st XI played Tonbridge, a school that was always going to be a difficult proposition. However, despite some losses, there were many individual performances of note: the Yearlings A and B lost but Joe Anthony and Ryan Newman bowled well to record figures of 4 for 25 and 3 for 11 respectively. Jon Peters got 3 wickets for only 5 runs for the B Team. The C Team recorded a famous victory, thanks to Ben Friend's innings of 42 and James Asquith's 5 for 16. 1st XI v The XL Club XL Club - 172 for 8 (B.Wilson 3/47; E.Craik 3/24) Haileybury XI - 173 for 2 (B.Wilson 79*; F.Qureshi 86*) Ben Wilson (Batten) and Fahim Qureshi (Lawrence) put on 162 runs off 194 balls. Ben Wilson (Batten) and Fahim Qureshi (Lawrence) put together a 162 partnership as the XI completed a comfortable victory over The Forty Club, England's largest cricket club. Louis records 37th fastest time in Swimathon

Haileybury swimmer Louis George recorded the fastest time in the country by a 10-12 year old swimmer in the recent endurance Swimathon over a distance of 10km or 400 lengths of the Haileybury pool. Louis's time of 2 hours 36 minutes 0.116 seconds was 37th over all age groups and both sexes. The nearest competitor in his age group recorded a time of 2:41:15. Now in its 17th year, Swimathon is the world's largest fundraising swim challenge. Last year the event attracted 32 000 swimmers to 525 pools across the UK, raising £2.2 million  > more

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)

As you would imagine we have been giving very careful thought to what action Haileybury should take in response to the SARS outbreak. I am writing at this stage to all parents and guardians so that the letter arrives in good time before the start of term. Louis to swim for Hertfordshire

Louis George has been chosen to represent the Hertfordshire Schools' swimming team after winning the backstroke (juniors) race at the selection gala held recently. In the same gala, Alex Lodge was very unlucky not to qualify in the fly event, finishing third by a very small margin. Alex was carrying an injury which hampered his performance. Only the first two places qualify for selection. The county team will compete in the ESSA Division 10 gala at Barnet Copthall on 16 May against swimmers from Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.  > more

Yellow and Blue tickets awarded for Spring term

The Yellow Ticket system has been in operation at Haileybury for many years. With the aim of rewarding pupils for really outstanding pieces of work or acknowledging work which represents a genuine improvement on what has gone before, the system makes it possible for all pupils to achieve recognition.
