Haileybury music scores again

The Haileybury Chapel Choir's CD recording, Were You There, has received a very favourable review from Roger Tucker of the Cathedral Music magazine. The CD was released by Regent Records at the end of May 2002 and features the Chapel Choir, conducted by Peter Davis, accompanied by Derek Longman, and including organ solos performed by Simon Lascelles and Peter Davis. David does Haileybury tennis proud

David Rice, one of Haileybury's star tennis players, won the Ariel Under 14 Masters Grand Prix tournament held at Welwyn Garden City last weekend. He played four matches during the championship, beating the Scottish number 1, Graham Dyce, in the semi-final 6-4, 6-3. He had a tougher encounter in the final, playing his nearest rival Darren Walsh from Surrey, and squeezing through 6-4,7-6 (11-9 in the tie-break). Albert Roux shows off his culinary skills

Celebrated chef Albert Roux made the kitchens of Haileybury his temporary home yesterday as his chefs joined the school catering team to cook for more than 40 guests who had gathered at the school to raise funds for the Attlee Foundation. Such was the success of the dinner and subsequent raffle that almost £3000 was raised. Roux is perhaps the best-known chef in Britain, a household name as the proprietor of one of the country's top restaurants, Le Gavroche, and through his cookery books and television programmes. Haileybury shines at lacrosse tournament

Haileybury joined Abbot's Hill, King's Canterbury, Princes Helena College and Stowe in braving the possibility of bad weather to produce scintillating games of lacrosse at the Small Schools Eastern Qualifier. The match draw was favourable to Haileybury, but a last-minute withdrawal by St. Margaret's got the team off to a slow start against Princes Helena College's second squad.
