New-look Highfield proves a hit

Haileybury’s Lower School boys’ boarding facility has been substantially increased to house an extra 10 pupils following the completion of building work to Highfield.

The project, which has taken six months to complete, is one of the most intensive projects the school has undertaken in such a short time, says Haileybury’s domestic bursar, Peter Bailey.

In addition to housing the extra pupils, a new Housemaster’s flat, which overlooks most of the estate, was added on as was another staff flat on the first floor.

Peter says the very best materials were used for the building. "York stone graces the front facade, while the finish in the staff flats is of a high quality and the pupils’ equipment is up to date and customised. There is also under floor heating, disabled access and a lift and a superbly fitted kitchen.

"The boys were bouncing off the walls with excitement when they returned at the beginning of term," says Peter. "Everyone, including parents, is very pleased with the finished product."
