Haileybury pupils to represent Angola at international Model United Nations conference

Twelve Haileybury pupils have been selected to represent the school at The Hague International Model United Nations (MUN) Conference from Sunday, 22 to Friday, 27 January 2012 at the World Forum Convention Centre in The Hague. They will be part of a group of 3,500 delegates from all over the globe to attend this prestigious event.

Participating in an MUN conference involves research, analysis, understanding, discussion and solution-finding for complex issues, explains the Head of Haileybury’s MUN group, Michael Perrins.

"It is a multi-faceted academic and intellectual exercise that requires skills of intelligence, aptitude, hard-work and participation."

Haileybury has been a stalwart supporter of THIMUN for the past 12 years, emphasising our place as one of the top MUN schools in the UK. This year, one of the Upper Sixth pupils, Ben Phillips, has been selected as a Deputy Chair for the Environment Committee, a high accolade in MUN terms.

The rest of the team, which will be representing Angola, comprises Andreas Payne, Richard Haslam, Jamie Ainsworth, Katrina Rawson-McKenzie, Rachel Buckley-Taylor, Toby Smyth, Lea de Melo, Andrew Hamilton, Alexander Belousov, Alexandra Bertz, Louis Chalk and Sophie Van Ungern-Sternberg.
