Haileybury maintains position as a top IB school

10 July 2014

We are pleased to announce that the College’s 47 IB Diploma graduates achieved a provisional average of 36 points, the equivalent of pupils achieving A*A*A*B, and significantly above the global average of 29.8 points.

Nearly a quarter of our IB Diploma scores are 40 or more points out of a possible 45, equating to 4 A*s at A Level. These results come as we celebrate our 15th anniversary as an IB World School, with a programme that has been growing steadily since the outset. This year’s results once again place Haileybury among the top IB schools in the UK, according to the Times newspaper.

Among the high achievers, Paul Zeisler scored an incredible 44 points out of 45, achieving scores of sevens in all six subjects. Paul intends to go on to study medicine at the University of Freiburg, pending the post results application process in his native Germany.

Simon Smith, Deputy Head (Academic) said: “The IB Diploma requires pupils to display a range of skills, knowledge and understanding that makes them accomplished thinkers and university students. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of our pupils for their hard work and enthusiasm which are being recognised in this year’s results.

"Haileybury has been offering the IB Diploma curriculum to pupils for 15 years and these results, as well as the steady year-on-year increase in enrolment, illustrate how enthusiastically the program has been taken up. As more universities express their recognition of the calibre and value IB Diploma graduates bring to their further studies, we’re confident that the Diploma will continue to have a bright future.”
