Eight Haileyburians enjoy Oxbridge success

Eight Haileyburians enjoyed success in the competition for places at Oxford and Cambridge as a result of the entry process this year. Congratulations to the following:

Vanessa Butz (C), an IB pupil who was awarded a place to read Engineering, Economics and Management at New College Oxford, having achieved 41 IB points;

Henry Englander (Tr), an IB pupil who gained a place at Sidney Sussex, Cambridge to read Law, after scoring 44 IB points;

Rupert Flint Cahan (K), an A Level pupil who won a place at Wadham College, Oxford to read Persian with a subsidiary language, having gained AAAA at A Level with an A at AS Level;

Amy Gandon (H), an A Level pupil who has been awarded a place to read Classics at Pembroke College, Cambridge, following on from four A grades at A level;

Alastair Marsh (K), an A Level pupil who left Haileybury in Summer 2008 and who has been successful in his post-A Level application to read Materials Science at Corpus Christi, Oxford;

Charles Richards (Th), an A Level pupil who has been awarded a place to read Land Economy at Robinson College, Cambridge, having scored AAAB at A Level with an A at AS Level;

Tim Stoten (K), an A Level pupil who gained a place at Robinson College, Cambridge to read Natural Sciences and who achieved AAAA at A Level; and

Oliver Winters (L), an IB pupil who gained a place to read History and Economics at St Peter’s, Oxford, after scoring 38 IB points and achieving a top 10 result in the History Aptitude Test (HAT).

Master Joe Davies says these results represent a good range of academic disciplines, which testifies to Haileybury’s ability to gain access for its pupils to a wide variety of courses at these two highly esteemed centres of Higher Education.

"It is also very encouraging to note that three of these candidates took the International Baccalaureate Diploma," he adds.
