ROMANIA

Order of the Crown is  Romania's highest order.  Established: 1881, by King Charles I "Ordinul Coroana Romaniei" 1881-1947.

There are 29 variations of the Order. The picture shown is the Commander with Swords, which is possibly the one awarded to Major General Lakin. .

The Order of the Crown of Romania was instituted on March 14, 1881 by King Carol I and was awarded for outstanding service to the Kingdom. The Order was awarded primarily to government officials and to military officers. It was created in five grades: Knight, Officer, Commander, Great Officer, and Grand Cross. The order was disbanded in 1947 after King Michael was forced to abdicate his throne after the Soviet occupation of Romania.
