What better way of understanding life at Haileybury than by asking the pupils themselves? Here our Heads of School for 2017-18, Kenisha Paliwal and James Clark, and their deputies Xanthe Drinkall-Gash and Sebastian Parry, offer a warm welcome to the College and explain, in their own words, why Haileybury is such a special place.
We would all like to wish you a very warm welcome to the Haileybury community this academic year. Whether you are visiting for the first time or are already familiar with Haileybury, we are sure that you will find this dynamic and animated school the perfect learning environment.
With one of us joining at the beginning of Lower School, two of us joining in Removes and the other in Middles, we have 17 years' experience as pupils at Haileybury. Despite all joining at different times, the House system gave us the necessary support to help us settle in easily.
In this time, we have all taken advantage of the diverse opportunities that the school has to offer, from sport to drama to Model United Nations and music. As we have been involved in all aspects of Haileybury life, we are keen to share these experiences with you. This can also be said for our approachable team of College Prefects, should you have any queries regarding Haileybury life.
Haileybury is a school based around strong relationships, which can be seen in and out of house. The House system focuses wholly on the integration between year groups and the pastoral relationship between a pupil and their Housemaster or Housemistress is always a source of support and comfort to all. Within the House, the peer support system provides additional reassurance if ever needed. It goes without saying that the academic relationship between pupils and teachers is one of mutual respect that allows for the best possible learning environment.
Finally, and most importantly, are the relationships formed between a pupil and their peers, and these friendships stretch far beyond one's time at Haileybury. The Haileybury learning experience goes far deeper than just a set of exam results. The approach to learning, coupled with the co-curricular opportunities, means that each person that passes through Haileybury leaves as a well-rounded individual with a strong set of values to guide them through the challenges of university life and beyond.
With all this in mind, we look forward to seeing you soon and we would happily offer to show you round so that you may explore our school and understand why Haileybury really is such a special place to live and learn.
